After a devastating loss to Newark Memorial, the James Logan Varsity Boys’ basketball team bounced back with a win over American Thursday night in Fremont.

The Colts managed to have a good start in the beginning of the game, with a 14-6 lead. The Eagles strived to catch up and were able to stay close behind the entire time. However, Logan still followed through with an exciting 57-54 victory by the end of the night.

Logan’s center, Hunter Hayden said “We were determined to win this game after we lost to Newark, and now that we won, we want to keep this up."

Logan’s record is now 5-1 in MVAL and 14-5 overall. They will be up against Irvington High School tonight at 7:30 pm in the Logan Pavilion.

Logan is confident going into this game as they are holing down second pace in the Mission Valley Athletic League.

This game will have no affect on Logan’s chances of ranking up in the league. The Vikings are 1-5 in league games. Logan expects to win by a high number of points, said Logan’s center, Hunter Hayden.

Logan is now the second place team in the Mission Valley Athletic League, while American falls to third. This puts the Colts one game behind the Cougars. Therefore, the game that Newark will be hosting against Logan on February 5th will give Logan a chance to tie for first place in MVAL if they win.
