"Meet the Spartans" is a parody in which the main characters and plot are based on 300, a movie released last year that proved to be a success at the box office. Like 300, "Meet the Spartans" basically tells the story of the battle between King Leonidas of Sparta and his army of 300, and King Xerxes and his army of Persian warriors.

The battle between the Spartans and Persians is the main plot of this movie, but the random and humorous scenes happen to be the main focus and source of entertainment. Like "Epic Movie" and "Date Movie", "Meet the Spartans "has comical scenes which refer to former movies, popular television shows, certain celebrities, and controversial issues in today’s society.

The Spartans in this movie are portrayed as homosexuals. The Spartan way to greet each other consists of open mouth tongue kisses for men and enthusiastic high fives for women. The battles which take place vary from break‑dancing competitions to yo‑mamma jokes. Along the way, Spartans encounter judges from "American Idol", "Dancing with the Stars" and "America’s Next Top Model." And this movie did not spare the most talked about celebrities, like Britney Spears, Lindsay Lohan, and Paris Hilton. Of course, "Meet the Spartans" makes many other references as well.

Overall, I didn’t find this movie extremely hilarious. I found a few scenes funny but the remainder of the movie can be more accurately described as “stupid funny.” But then again, I do believe certain people will find "Meet the Spartans" entertaining and comical. Audiences in their teens and maybe even 20s and 30s may find this movie funny, as compared to senior audiences. I’d obviously recommend "Meet the Spartans" to those who enjoy parodies, and also young adult audiences who are looking for a silly movie experience.
