Papillon is located on 37296 Mission Blvd., just west of the Niles Blvd. in Fremont. Papillion, which in French means butterfly, has been serving people for more than twenty years. Once entering the restaurant you are kindly welcomed and seated in a traditional dining room. They offer four types of dining rooms each with its own unique setting.
Everyone is seated quickly and abruptly begin to be served. Each table is covered in white tablecloths, which are garnished with fresh flowers. The staff stays attentive, keeping the customers as the primary focus. At times meals may take awhile to be served, but once the food is received it takes away the thought of ever waiting. Each customer is taken care of politely.
The menu choices are difficult to understand considering most of the food is French, but it can easily be explained to you by a server. My waitress was very welcoming and patient; she gave recommendations that were satisfying to me and my family. Papillon includes specialties such as escargot, frog legs, truffles and cognac duck paté, and a french onion soup that is baked with puff pastry in a traditional style.
Meals are presented beautifully and taste even better. The restaurant is also known for its large selection of wines and beer, having its own full bar and lounge area you notice when you first walk in. There are many options when picking your meal. Some of the desserts on the menu are Créme Brulee with Mango Sorbet, Cheesecake, Flourless Chocolate Torte, the Grand Marnier, Chocolate Suffle, Baked Alaska Cherries Jubilee, Strawberries or Bananas Flambé or traditional Crepé Suzettes. When craving a dessert you also have to be patient since some of these dishes take over twenty minutes to prepare.
When deciding to eat at Papillon makes sure to have plenty of time since meals take awhile to be served, but are good when eaten, so the wait is well deserved. Some of the food is pricey, but the food is definitely worth it. It's an excellent choice for family and friends to get together to have lunch, or dinner so I suggest you go try it.
