Angela Luo

By Angela Luo, ASB Public Relations Commissioner

Hello fellow classmates and friends. First, I would like to thank you all for your participation on Club Recruitment day and Peace day. I hope you learned more abut our clubs and even joined a few. Here’s an update of current ASB activities:

The dress code committee is still working on recommendations for a fair and appropriate revision of the current dress code with Ms. Billingsey. If you would like to suggest any reasons to why we should allow hats, tube tops, spaghetti straps, tank tops, etc., please notify me, Angela Luo or Cody Harper in Room 67 during lunch. If we are not there, feel free to leave a note with Mr. Rojas, our activities director.

Seniors! If you’re interested in going to grad night, please pick up your form in Room 67. And don’t forget to turn in your yearbook photos choices by Halloween. If you haven’t taken your yearbook photo is, please take them by October 17th.

Homecoming Rally is just around the corner on October 17th. Graduating Class committees should have already begun building their float. If you’re interested in helping, please contact your class officers. They need all the help they can get to make your class float the best! If you need a float-building schedule, please go to Room 67 and pick one up.

Advice:
Seniors should have already begun writing their personal statement and should be finishing them. If any of you haven’t started, please start. College applications should already be posted on-line. You can either print the application out, send them in by mail, or you can just fill one out and submit online. If you’re planning to apply to CSU, personal statements, I believe, isn’t needed, but their applications are due late October and early November. UC applications are due late November. If you haven’t taken your SAT’s or ACTs, hurry up and sign up for the November date for SAT and you have one more chance for ACTs in December. If you would like to have a personal schedule of college due dates, make a free account on collegeboard.com. I’ll try to keep you updated as much as possible.

Juniors should sign up to take the PSAT or PACT now and sign up to take SATs this winter.

Sophomores start studying for SATs or ACTs, I know this may sound a bit too early, but it’s better to be prepared early than late. I also advise you to sign up for the PSATs or PACTs.

And freshmen, figure out all your A-G classes early from sophomore year through senior year. Remember you need a semester of ethnic study to graduate and a year of visual/performing art.
